Galaxy S 3 Rumored to Launch in April, Have Quad Core CPU and 12 MP Camera

The Galaxy S was a major success for Samsung, being the best phone of 2010, and then once again in 2011 Samsung launched its successor the Galaxy S 2, which was even more successful, and once again was the phone to beat in 2011. Samsung seems to have this habit of launching their flagship smartphone, that is not only the best phone at the time, but also manages to hold its own for the next half a year.
Soon it will be that time of the year again, when Samsung will launch their next flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S 3. If history is any guide, it will impress even more than the previous model. Apparently Eldar Murtazinhas already leaked some specs for the Galaxy S 3:
  • quad core 1.5-1.6 Ghz processor
  • Super AMOLED HD display (most likely the Plus version)
  • 12 MP camera
  • Android 4.0
  • Touchwiz 5.0 (most likely)
  • battery saving software
All these specs are not exactly surprising because there have been rumors about Galaxy S3 using a quad core processor before. A Super AMOLED display with an HD resolution is again not very surprising considering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus already has one. A 12 MP camera has like a natural progression over the 8 MP camera in the GS2.
Of course it will arrive with Android 4.0. By there there will be almost half a year since Android 4.0 was released, and I’m sure that’s enough time for them to get the GS3 ready with Android 4.0, even if they have to put TouchWiz 5.0 on it. TouchWiz 3.0 wasn’t that great, but TouchWiz 4.0 was quite a big improvement, and it became the nicest skin on the market, especially considering that HTC made theirs more bloated with the 3.0 version of Sense. So I would expect TouchWiz 5.0 to be a big improvement, too, although I’d probably still prefer stock Android 4.0 myself.
Samsung is poised to launch the Galaxy S3 in April, but we’ll probably see it announced first at MWC next month.
