SONY ERICSOON XPERIA PRO HANDS ON

Today am going to talk about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro. This is Sony Ericsson's premium phone that comes withe the latest Android operating system 2.
3.4. The phone spots an 8 Megapixel camera that is capable of shooting HD videos thanks to the Sony Bravia engine under the case as well as the Xmer R from Sony for crystal clear picture just like any Sony camera with Xmer R. I have had a first hand experience with this phone that comes with android 3.3.4 operating system which has the following features as you pushed out by Sony Ericsson;
• Google Talk with Video Chat with front-facing camera.
• Facebook inside Xperia functionality for enhanced like, share and discover abilities.
• 3D Sweep Panorama functionality
• 16x video zoom
• You can turn your phone into a mini-mobile PC by connecting USB peripherals (mouse, keyboard or game controller) to Sony Ericsson LiveDock multimedia station.
• Gesture input – text input by swiping the finger from one letter to the next
• WiFi DLNA
• Native Screen capture support
The most interesting experience I have had with the phone is the swipe to type feature that makes me feel like am all that god when comes to the on screen typing. Not forgetting that this is a Business phone, the slide out qwerty keypad just does it for me when I wanna get down to serious typing... The 3.7 screen with a clear black front with a polished casing as well as the metalic band gives this phone a premium feel that other phones will struggle to give. Despite the fact that the phone has a slide out keypad, the ergonomic design makes the phone fit perfectly in your hands either when the keypad is out or not or when you wanna capture that moment.
Xperia pro comes with an 8GB memory card but the memory is expandable to 32GB. The internal memory is 512MB but hey don't worry about that, many applications on the gingerbread version can be moved to the SD card to create room for optimum functionality. Talking of applications, I just noticed that SOny Ericsson is the only mobile phone manufacturer with a Channel on the Android Marketlace as you can see the image below.
I just noted that the Sony Ericsson marketplace channel serves to;
• Provide recommendations to help you find the best games & apps that enhance your Sony Ericsson ‘most entertaining’ experience
• Provide a way to easily find original apps from Sony Ericsson such as Timescape plugins, extensions etc.
• From time to time offer exclusive games & apps only available in this channel.
• Help our developer partners promote their apps & games giving them a highlighted market space to our consumers.
The 7.2MBPs speed with a 1GHZs processor makes he online experience flawless, I am using this phone on the Safaricom network and so far I am able to stream videos from YouTube as well as video chat with my people on Skype using the front facing camera. The speed has also helped me be able access my emails as soon as they land into my inbox. Another feature that is worth mentioning as result of using this phone is the Facebook Inside Xperia feature that allows one to share there music with there friend on Facebook and also the synching of contacts, calendar with your Facebook so that you do not get to forget your friends birthdays etc.
The slide out keypad is quit accurate as a result of the ergonomic design but guess what, I am no fan of physical keypad unless the situation demands. The onscreen keypad is quit accurate and this is an improvement compared to the earlier Xperia range such as the X10 (lost and never ever found). The accuracy is good especially if you wanna get your message across pretty fast with being messed up with predictive wording... The Swype to type feature as you can see in the image below is now available and I just love it on Xperia pro. It makes me look like a mind reader when responding to messages coz its so fast. Just swipe and your word is written, the accuracy here is also amazing and it will make anyone fall in love with this piece of gadget.
I hope to keep this phone coz its all you will ever ask for as a business smart phone, from the looks, to the features and the satisfaction that it gives you is out of this world.
Take a look at a few screen shots that I took just to have an idea of the kind of awesomeness that I have been able to experience and watch out for my next review of the Xperia range.
