Tech101kenya meets Biz101

It is funny that we were promised quit alot as the submarine fibre optic cable was being rolled out I heard the PS information say that were to witness a dramatic drop in the cost of data and voice. Ask me why I was happy and I will tell you that I believed him and still believe in what he said.
The only thing that he did not consider will happen was the high jacking of the bandwith by the main players and hodding it as if it were manner that only fell on they side of the fence. Believe me am not ranting about this coz I know business 101 and Econ 1010 will take its cause. We have already seen this shape up in the voice sector where by a majority of the players are embracing the economy of scale. Some are living by the rule of take as much as you coz sunny days are not going to last and that is why we are seeing many unexplainable deductions accross all the networks.
And what is with this value adding that we all are witnessing? Access Kenya having traffic cameras on its website, YU sleeping, Zain with its lukewarm effort to bring the pain in the game, Zuku just about to launch triple play etc. What happened to the largest bandwidth? I do believe that I should be able to have fixed line internet with the highest speed at the thousand shillings. Lest be like south Korea or India or better yet Brazil where internet connectivity is free in slums. What are they holding on? I am also perplexed by the fact that with all this ongoing, companies are making super profits at the expense of consumer rights. I bet NO ONE have ever experienced true 3G without experiencing true data bundle disappearance... and there go acting like they are trend setter just about to start LTE trials.

Any way sorry about the aproach I have take in addressing this but that is just the way it is. This is a country where the customer is always in a position of begging and paying for it. I am glad that Orange Kenya have a fun page on facebook where they always respond to there query and I like the fact that they making there bundles as affordable as posiblie.
This is just a rant, I know there are many Kenyans who have a positive story about how they Vukad and things have never been the same or how they are getting value for they money when it comes to the internet connection. Please feel free to share.
