Nokia launches Lumia 925
Tuesday, May 14, 2013
Nokia has announced its latest
flagship handset, the Nokia Lumia 925, at a press briefing in London.
The
follow-up to its Lumia 920, the 925 is a Windows 8-based smartphone, which
comes loaded with a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of
internal memory and 7GB of cloud storage. A 32GB Lumia 925 is in the pipeline
as an exclusive for Vodafone customers.
The
925 also has a 2,000 mAh battery and supports wireless charging. The
Lumia 925 weighs 139 grams and at 8.5mm is 2.2mm thinner than its predecessor.
It's also less abrasive to look at; the phone's display is a 4.5 inch
touchscreen of Gorilla 2 Glass, encased in a metal frame and a polycarbonate
back, which is available in white, grey or black.
The
key features Nokia is touting for the Lumia 925 center around its 8.7 megapixel
camera and image-stabilizing technology. The Nokia Lumia 925 also introduces
Nokia Smart Camera allowing users to capture ten images at once and edit the
pictures with options like Best Shot, Action Shot, and Motion Focus.
Access
to social networks and sites such as Tumbler, Twitter and Facebook comes as a
standard pre-load.
The
Nokia Lumia 925 is expected to go on sale in the UK sometime in June with
Vodafone and other, as yet unannounced, retail and operator partners.
