The Safaricom Intel Yolo unboxing
Well, it has been almost
a month since this phone was launched in Kenya as an Intel’s reference device.
Safaricom has been able to sale more than 5000as I am reliably informed.
I have had the chance to have a hands-on experience with the phone and I
must say it is quite impressive. The phone is laden with quite an impressive
array of features just to note but a few. The
Safaricom Intel Yolo smartphone is not a flagship smartphone — for high-end
Android Phone hardware. But what makes the 620 interesting is its (low) price:
this is an entry-level handset that puts a polished mobile computing experience
(thanks to Intel inside) in your pocket without breaking the bank or
compromising usability with dire, under powered hardware.
Check out the video below for the exclusive unboxing
The first time I heard
that Safaricom and Intel were going to launch a smartphone in the Kenyan
market; it was like music to my ears. This was the first time a global brand
with a wealth of experience in computer chip making was going to partner with a
local major player in mobile telecommunication service provider. The writer in
the local daily had had it all wrong when it
came to phones specs that I wanted to know how all this was going to be
possible and still achieve a mass market reach. I made an effort to attend the
launch and secure myself a phone for an exclusive unboxing as you can see in
the video below with editing….
A few things to note:
- A quality finish
which gives the phone a premium feel as well a perfect grip
- No dedicated
camera button
- No LED flash
- Quite an
impressive camera capable of shooting 1080p videos and still images
- The sccreen is
big enough and not prone to scratching
- Wireless display
feature for mirroring phone screen on TV, dongle sold separately
- The screen is
bright enough and puts many phones in its price range to shame
- Impressive
graphics
- Comes with
android 4.0.4 for optimal performance
- Phone not locked
to Safaricom
In conclusion, this
phone is like “VW golf” and it is way ahead of the competition when it comes to
design, finish, quality and performance. The camera is amazing, wait till you
see the mirroring of the screen on a 46 inch HDTV. Gone are the days for me to
a feature phone as my second phone for this phone store charge longer than any
other droid I have ever had.
I will recommend this
phone to anyone that treasures quality, performance and is looking to get value
for his or her hard earned buck. You can so get it at Kes 10,999/= from any
Safaricom retailer and you will never go wrong.
