LG Announces Four Optimus Series of Devices in Barcelona; Optimus LII, Optimus F, Optimus Vu, and Optimus G Series
LG just announced some new devices in Barcelona. This is what LG
is calling their “four-tier strategy”. They are covering an entire range of
specs, sizes and price points with these four lines. You’ve got the Optimus G
line, Optimus Vu line, Optimus F line, and the Optimus LII line. The Optimus G
series was already unveiled last week, which was the Optimus G Pro which is a
good looking device with some great looking specs too. In fact it was the first
one device to sport the Snapdragon 600 processor.
Then you’ve got the Optimus Vu series, which hasn’t been to
popular here in the US. But in Korea, LG’s homeland, it’s been extremely
popular. The Optimus Vu is that 5-inch device that is a 4:3 aspect ratio and
really looks and feels awkward. The Optimus Vu: 2 brings along for the ride
multi-window, Talk, QRemote, QSlide Software and a few more goodies.
Now there are some new additions to the lineup as well; the F
series and the LII Series. These are meant to be middle and low-end devices
respectively. We’ve already seen the specs for the F5 and F7, which are pretty
solid and will greatly expand LG’s LTE offerings. Then there’s the LII which is
focused on design rather than raw specs, they are 3G only devices and that
seems to be where LG is trying to test their new design elements in the low
end.
LG is touting for all of these devices their creative and
friendly UX, which has intelligent features that go beyond hardware, or so they
say. LG is continuing to develop their UX to provide unrivaled user-centric
features in this era of high resolution displays and LTE. This has proven to be
pretty hard as of late. Some of the other features included in these devices
include the QSlide which was on the Optimus G, Dual Recording and Virtual
Panorama which was on the Optimus G Pro, announced last week.
With these new devices, LG is looking to focus on their design
and product portfolio around the Optimus name. Some would say build their brand
like how Samsung has built the Galaxy brand and how HTC is working on the One
brand.
