Qatar Airways deploys iPads with customized app to cabin crew & concierge
Qatar Airways reveals it is now handing out iPads to staff at
airports in Doha (Qatar) and London.
These iPads will be used by
cabin crew and concierge staff based at the Doha International Airport and at
London Heathrow.
The tablets each feature a
custom-built Qatar Airways app which presents an interactive seat map design,
and highlights the presence of VIPs and Privilege Club members on the plane. It
also helps to identify customers quickly, and can be used to alert other staff
of a passenger’s special meal or service requirements.
Qatar Airways hopes to add
new features to the iPads in the near future so that customers can enroll
for the Privilege Club or purchase duty free items, all while up in the air.
Aviation has emerged as an eager
industry when it comes to adopting tablets, and deployments to date have varied
from using iPads for in-flight
entertainment, to using the devices as electronic
flight bags and even as training tools.
