Kenyan App on Android: Mista Mixtapes

I have made a decision to start focusing on at least one Kenya application on the Android platform every given week. The first response I got after stating my intention was  from an application owner nai Entertainment  as he wanted  to be featured and the application is called Mista Mixtapes. Well your guess is as good as mine when I got to hear about the application. It falls under the entertainment audio category whereby it features music mixtapes from different genres by serving as a music streaming platform.

Mista Mixtapes is a well done application that covers a wide range of the music genres. The Mixtapes have been grouped in different genres of music to make it easy to locate what you want to listen to. For best steaming results, it is suggested you try it out using a wifi or 3G connection. If you are looking for some motivational workout music at the gym, this the app for you and it’s free on the Android marketplace.

“ I have a website naientertainment.com, where I’ve been uploading several mixtatapes from me and a few of my close DJs in the game (of which I have express permission to use their mixes). What started as a joke turned out to be a hit with music fans all over the world. With the latest change in technology, I felt the need to start an app where I can load some of the mixes from my website and fans can listen while on the road.I’ve spent time to carefully select BEST OF THE BEST Dj Mixes going back over a decade to offer you different flavors and genres of music. I must say I have tried out the application and as you can see from the home page screen shot it is quit colorful . At first I thought the paint brush writings of the covered genres were functional in that I could access the music just by tapping on the text. It’s a bit tricky to navigate just when you land on the home page but it’s a smooth ride after you figure the UI out. I must say the music collection very impressive given the wide range and the length of the Mixtapes and the music quality. The inclusion of tweeter feed makes sure that you are kept up to date with regard to the latest uploads for your listening pleasure.

This is a very good application given the fact that it gets a 3.5 rating out of 5 on the market place with a lot of compliments. Unlike other applications that require your information such as phone number, location and even your email address this application only requires full internet access to work since it’s all about streaming. Its current version 1.0.5 which requires Android 2.2 above has seen a steady increase in popularity since its launch in November 2011and it only takes up 618K memory.
