TED launches official Android app

Finally – TED has launched an Android app, which in case you wonder was available for iOS users for quite some time now. Available as a free download, it will bring all “Ideas Worth Spreading” to the palm of your hand, including more than 1,100 TEDTalks categorized, searchable and tagged.
The Android app mimics the one for iPhone, boasting the following features:
  • Daily updated TEDTalk videos accessible on your smartphone/tablet as soon as they’re available online.
  • Ability to browse the entire TED library by a number of criteria like theme, tag, rating and popularity.
  • Search for a talk by speaker name or topic.
  • Sharing of your favorite videos via Facebook, Twitter or email.
  • Bookmarks – you can mark and save talks for viewing later within their “My Talks” tab.
  • Offline viewing – you don’t have to be online all the time. Simply download certain clips when you have Internet access and watch them later when you don’t [have Internet access].
  • Audio – if you’re jogging or just don’t want to watch a video, select TEDTalks are available in audio form. You can either listen to curated audio stream or download individual talks.
I love TED and can nothing but recommend downloading their app. It’s free after all…
