Apple Manages to Keep Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Away From Public Glare at IFA

Samsung’s patent woes continue, as no sooner had the company flashed its latest tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, at the IFA event in Berlin that the device and all other supportive evidence of its existence vanished mysteriously. Not only were the demo units of the tablet pulled out from public viewing, but any comment whatsoever on the tablet has also been shut out from consumers. If you still haven’t been able to figure out why, Apple has been able to procure a second injunction that prohibited Samsung from displaying the newest entrant to the Galaxy Tab family.
Sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has already been put on hold in Germany by a court ruling when Apple approached the court with the complaint that these devices were copies of their iPad.
There is, however, not much similarity between the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the iPad. For one, the processors are different while the OS that the two devices run on are different, too. The iPad runs on iOS while the Galaxy 7.7 runs on Android with a layer of TouchWiz built on top. There is also the difference in the display screens with the Tab 7.7 having a smaller and higher resolution display than that of the iPad. Looks wise, there is also a big difference between the two gadgets. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 device comes with a 12800 x 800 pixel AMOLED display.
Samsung has also tagged the entry of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 with the notice that they will not be available in Germany. However, the show itself being held in Germany is probably what did not help Samsung’s case and they had to remove the entry. This should also explain the conspicuous gaps in the Samsung Germany as well as the IFA microsite where the Tab 7.7 once was not too long ago.
It can be expected that similar restrictions will be experienced in the launch of this tablet in other parts of the world also. In any case, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is really a nice tablet and it would be really sad if the tablet is kept away from the world at large.
