Symbian Anna
It's here! Nokia has released the Symbian Annaupdate for the Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01. The update brings the latest and greatest version of the Symbian operating system to this high-flying quartet with a stack of great new features.
Symbian Anna is a major revision of the Symbian OS and brings a new look, with rounded icon sets that look much more touchscreen friendly and the UI has been tweaked so that it feels more like an OS designed for fingertips than earlier versions.
Nokia users have been calling for a portrait-mode on-screen QWERTY keyboard, and Symbian Anna delivers, throwing in split-screen text entry too for good measure.
Social networking integration means you can see friends' status updates in their contact details and you can post pics directly to Twitter from the gallery. The web browser is a complete rewrite with an all-new rendering engine based on WebKit, just like the iPhone and Android phones.
Ovi Maps has been boosted too with smarter search and integration with Foursquare check-ins, Facebook and Twitter.
The Nokia N8 benefits specifically from an update to the camera which enables 30fps video recording at 720p, while Nokia C7 owners can now take advantage of the handset's NFC capability thanks to the update.
Joining the Symbian Anna party is as simple as grabbing your phone and heading over to our simple guide to upgrading. It is very easy and in no time at all you will be enjoying a whole new mobile experience.
Any early adopers should let us know on how it feels.
