Today, Jan. 6, the 2011 Consumer Electronics’ Show (CES) officially kicks off the world's largest, coolest and Greenest consumer technology tradeshows. The show produced by Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), officially begins today in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center/Las Vegas Hilton.

For decades, first debuting in New York City in 1967, CES has been connecting the industry and enabling consumer innovations to grow and thrive. The video cassette recorder made its debut at CES in 1970, the camcorder in 1981, CD player in 1981, the DVD player played in 1994, and the Microsoft Xbox in 2001.
Today a number of of the same companies along with the up and coming will bring out their big guns, unveiling this year’s goodies, gadgets, and gizmos to show off to the more than 130,000 geeks, nerds, aliens, humans descending upon the show.

Microsoft’s state of the art booth with their latest in consumer technology including Kinect for Xbox 360, Windows Phone 7, hot new PCs, Windows 8 on ARM SoC flavors, and other new technologies.
MSI will be showing an impressive array of laptops which feature the latest i7 Core 2nd generation processors, include the MSI G Series—possibly the fastest gaming note-books on the planet. The MSI F Series, the MSI C Series which brings together superior performance and multimedia functions. Finally the Wind U Series of light portable laptops and dual-screen mini-laptop.
Samsung will debut new line of cameras at CES this year. SH100 Wi-Fi enabled pocket camera with the 3-inch touch LCD, face recognition and a number of other Smart Auto operations.WB210boasts a long 12x optical super zoom lens set in a slim-line 22.4mm body. Also includes the option of a 21mm wide angle setting. A large 3.5" touch screen with Samsung's new Smart Access UI system The WB210 also includes 14 Megapixel photo qualities. The camera also delivers HD quality movie recording, as well as face detection. PL210 includes with a 10x optical zoom, 27mm wide-angle lens, a 3-inch rear LCD and a 14 megapixel sensor.
The new Samsung ST700, PL170 and PL120 models bring the latest dual screen innovations. The new smaller screens on the front of the camera can help with self portraits. ST700 point-and-shoot includes a 16.1 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, dual image stabilization, a 3-inch touch-screen on the rear, a 1.8-inch screen on the front, 720p movie mode, an ISO range that tops out at 3200. PL170 equipped with a 16.1 megapixel sensor and a 5x optical zoom, but the screen on the front is stepped down to 1.5-inches and the feature set is scaled back.PL120 is the lowest-end of the new DualViews, with a downsized 2.7-inch rear LCD.
HTC has unveiled one of its non smartphones, HTC FreeStyle.
Panasonic introduces three VIERA Full HD 3D Plasma model lines – the VT30 series, GT30 and ST30 series.
Sony Ericsson steps up to the plate with the new addition to the Xperia line-up and the introduction of the Xperia Arc, a super slim Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone, measuring only 8.7mm at its thinnest part.

CES attracts the” who’s who” in the technology and consumer related industry. So if you own one, they’re probably at CES 2011 right now and the next 4 days. All profits from CES are reinvested into industry services, including technical training and education, industry promotion, engineering standards development, market research and legislative advocacy. The 2009 International CES was named North America's Greenest Show by Trade Show Executive Magazine.
